There is something special about making your own pizza sauce from scratch. The simple ingredients, such as ripe San Marzano tomatoes, fragrant garlic, and fresh basil, come together to create a sauce that is both easy and delicious. At Los Angeles Cooking School, we emphasize the importance of quality ingredients, and this recipe exemplifies that.

Ingredients

ree

1 28 oz can San Marzano tomatoes, seeded and diced

2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced lengthwise

½ cup olive oil

Small bunch fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped

Instructions

Heat a sauté pan over medium heat, then add the olive oil. Once the oil is warm, add the garlic and let it gently sizzle — just until fragrant, not browned. Stir in the tomatoes and basil, then season with salt. Let it simmer briefly, just enough for the flavors to meld.
